About Chase Roberts eLearning designer & developer

About Chase Roberts
I’m an eLearning Designer and Developer from Southern California.

I grew up in Huntington Beach, California where I had been exposed to the world of art and technology at an early age, having a father working as an industrial artist for aerospace and publishing firms.

I began my career in learning and development in the mid 90s just as personal computers, creative software and the internet was taking off. My first job after college was a Los Angeles based video production company that also provided interactive training services. As time went on, I eventually began contracting services to major corporations looking for top quality eLearning design and development and video production services.

These days, I feel very fortunate to continue my work while helping raise my two sons with my wife, serve my clients, and thrive as an eLearning designer/developer.

I have a master’s degree in instructional design and technology from California State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA.

MY Experience

I have 15 years of hands-on experience in just about every aspect of the design and development of eLearning courses, including storyboarding, writing, prototyping, animation, graphics, filming, video editing, sound design and developing eLearning using all major rapid development tools.

Moreover, I enjoy managing small and large eLearning contracts from beginning to end. I take pride in assembling, leading and inspiring instructional design and development teams and taking special care that all consultants flourish in their chosen fields to do their very best work.

My eLearning Clients

The corporations, organizations and agencies I work with come from a variety of industries. Why is this so important? I am versatile. My team is versatile. There’s an art to consulting SMEs and obtaining the information you need. My experience working across many industries adds value to your project.

So here are a few of the industries I’ve work in: financial, public utility, medical, public health, cloud computing, aerospace, education, insurance, automotive, government, even veterinary!

Some of the companies include:
UCLA
Southern California Edison
Verizon
PayPal
Johnny Rockets
VCA Animal Hospitals
Dollar General
Petco
State of California
Cerner
CalOptima
Toyota

My eLearning Tools

My default tools normally come from Articulate and Adobe. For authoring, this includes Storyline 360, Rise and Captivate. For graphics, naturally, it’s Photoshop and Illustrator. For animation, it’s After Effects and Vyond. For video editing, it’s Premiere and Camtasia.

I also experiment with and use some fun gamification tools, including Construct 3.

On top of this, I have several computers (both PC and Mac) and some great video production equipment, including a Canon C100, Canon 5D, and two 6K Red Scarlett W cameras. And plenty of interview lighting and audio recording gear to boot.

The Skills I Bring to You

I think that in order to be a good eLearning designer and developer, you need to be versatile. You need to be a technician. You need to be an artist. You need to be a writer. A manager. Well, a problem solver. I bring all of this together in one package.
